From its beginnings, pocket watches have always been a symbol of high class, empowerment. The person who own it, was confident on his actions and wanted to show he has a fierce style. And yes, they were only men who were wearing pocketwatches in its early discovery. But then ladies wanted them too, so the watchmakers added precious gems and wonderful designs and transformed a simple functional item into a luxury jewel.
As fashion repeats itself at different intervals, class seems to be the purpose designers starts to aim again. After the modern bursts and SF costumes from 2000, they realized there's only one direction to follow: class, refinement and expensive taste.
But nowadays pocket watches have sometimes become only an accessory, and they can show bad taste and look cheap, rather than emphasize your style.
So, there could be two main questions to ask yourself when wanting a pocket watch:
1. What pocket watch should I choose?
Firstly, class means selecting only high quality products. Of course, they would be much more expensive than replicas or cheap tin ones, but it will say much about you.
They should be made from precious metals and gems, so it could be transfered to your kids and grandkids, and their children. Remember, you should rather make an investment for you and your next generations rather than buy an affordable object that will make you look cheap and that will get its rust in two years.
